Digi-Lab – What is it ?

Digi-Lab is a project that grew from the Global Citizenship Awareness Program, thanks to a partnership between ABA, Global Technology Corps, Apple Computers Inc. and 5 NGOs in Recife: Auçuba, Instituto Vida, Movimento Pro-Criança, CDL and Em Cena, Arte e Cidadania.

The first project of Digi-Lab was to document the Global Citizenship Awareness Program by showing the students having English, computer, and environment classes, as well as the views of the students, volunteers and teachers involved.

 

Objective

The objective of this project is to train and teach students to produce short videos, become fluent in digital technology, and communicate creatively and articulately, through digital media. At the end of the course, students will each, individually, have portfolios that could be relevant in broadening their professional life and horizons. Furthermore, as a continuation of the Global Citizenship Awareness Program, students are encouraged to always consider and question global citizenship, and bring what they have experienced and learned to their community.

The videos produced will become part of ABA´s library as well as be shown at ABA´s auditorium at the end of the semester. And of course students are encouraged to promote their work locally and nationally through festivals and video showings as well as share with the community.
