The five Digi-Lab students this semester, Márcio Francisco, Taciana Cabral, Claudia Abreu, Ubiritan Batista Jr. and Tancredo Jonas, have taken on the challenge of producing their own short videos individually. Each student has developed their own idea, under the broad themes of Citizenship, Culture and Education and is in the process of writing the screenplay. After filming, the students will edit their videos at the Digital Laboratory, using Apple´s iMovie program, which most students already have had experience with from last semester. Upon perfecting their editing skills, each student will receive a certificate at the end of the semester.
The Digital Lab at ABA, has moved and grown and will be inaugurated on May 13th, with the presence of the American Embassy, who together with the Global Technology Corps, donated the new equipment for the projects The Global Citizenship Awareness Program and Digi-Lab.
This semester has also been enrichened with some special classes and talks with professionals working in different areas of video and cinema.
Alexandre Malta and Guilherme Alcântara, computer class instructors from The Global Citizenship Awareness Program and part of ABA’s Computer Center team, gave a class about downloading and streaming video.
César Ricardo da Silva, an experienced videographer who has been working professionally here in Recife for five years, shared some of his commercial and technical know-how with the students.
Fabiana Rego, who is doing her masters in Cinema in Italy, together with Juliana Vilar, are working with the students and their screenplays.

Most recently, Digi-lab and The Global Citizenship Awareness Program have enjoyed the experience of meeting videographers from the Collective Media Sana.
Gabriel Furtado and Queops Negão, from Media Sana presented Alice no País do Propaganda during a special De Olho Na Tela Media Education Class, where students discussed different persuasive visual and linguistic techniques in propaganda.
This Saturday, Media Sana will give a VJ workshop and presentation to all the students from the project in the ABA AFLITOS AUDITORIUM. This special event is open to the public.
